CC   new one base insertion mutation (sgi), causing a frame shift
CC   resulting in a stop codon at positions 1082-1084, was identified
CC   [3].  It maps within the spo0A gene and relieves the growth
CC   inhibition of the host cells caused by a multicopy plasmid carrying
CC   the spo0A gene.  The spo0A12 amber mutation produces a stop codon
CC   at positions 576-578 and the spo0C9V mutation substitutes a valine
CC   for an alanine at positions 1077-1079 [3].  Nucleotides 1141-1187
CC   could be involved in a hairpin loop signalling mRNA termination
CC   [2].  A strong ribosomal binding site is located at 297-301 [2] and
CC   -35 and -10 regions are found at positions 215-224 and 243-251
CC   respectively [2].
CC   The sof-1 mutation, located in the spo0A gene, reverts the
CC   sporulation defect of mutations in the stage 0 genes (spo0F, spo0B
CC   and spo0E), suggesting that the gene products of the latter
CC   interact in a concerted or sequential fashion to effect the
CC   activity of the spo0A gene product.
