About EMGLib

This server is constructed around a database devoted to completely sequenced genomes of prokaryotic organisms (bacteria and archaea).

The purpose of this database is to integrate various aspects on the genomic information of these organisms. It integrates completely sequenced genomes taken from the bacterial genome division of GenBank. Each genome is inserted in the database as a single entry. EMGLib allows one to easily browse through these data and retrieve information, using various criteria (keywords, sequence names, accession numbers, etc.)

EMGLib has been developed through a collaboration involving three french laboratories: the Biometry and Evolutive Biology laboratory, at University Claude Bernard - Lyon 1, the INRA Biotechnology laboratories, at the National Institute of Agronomic Research, and the Institute of Genetics and Microbiology at Orsay University.

This server is built on top of an ACNUC database. It is possible to download the ACNUC index files as well as the sequence file (in GenBank format) through our anonymous FTP site. EMGLib is also accessible through the MICADO server.
