The evolution of eukaryotic gene order
Outline of what will be presented during the talk:
- preferred location of human sex-specific genes on X compared to autosomes;
- chromosomal clustering of human housekeeping genes;
- preferred location of these clusters in high-GC regions and R-/ light
G-bands;
- contrasting situation in nematodes (operons, many duplicates);
- some general comments on chromatin level gene regulation, and on the
evolutionary dynamics of cluster formation.
