SeaView
This is an outdated version of the seaview software. In most cases you should use its
current version
Version 3.2
NEW:import DNA or protein sequences from EMBL/GenBank/SwissProt
NEW: seaview is now interfaced with the muscle alignment program in addition to clustalw.
NEW: Use "Props:View as proteins" to align protein-coding DNA sequences.
NEW: work with several alignments and copy/paste between them.
SeaView is a graphical multiple sequence alignment editor developped by
Manolo Gouy. SeaView is able to
read and write various alignment formats (NEXUS, MSF, CLUSTAL, FASTA, PHYLIP,
MASE). It allows to manually
edit the alignment, and also to run DOT-PLOT or CLUSTALW/MUSCLE programs to
locally improve the alignment.
A screen shot of the
main window of it is available here.
Use of SeaView
SeaView can be used as a standalone application or as a helper
application when using the World Wide Web. In this case, prospective
users must configure their WWW browser
in a way to make it able to recognize the MIME-type associated to the
data read by SeaView: chemical/mase.
