bien que ma question ne soit pas directement en relation avec l'utilisation
du logiciel ADE-4, j'aurais aime savoir si quelqu'un avait une certaine
experience avec la procedure non lineaire d'ordination multivariee appelee
'Non metric multidimensional scaling' (et non implantee sur ADE-4).
Quel est l'interet de cette methode comparativement aux autres methodes
'classiques' d'analyse (ACP, AFC, voir DCA)? Dans quel cas de type de
données pourriez-vous en recommander l'utilisation? Est-il exacte que pour
utiliser une telle methode - basee sur une transformation en rang- on doit
observer au moins une relation monotonique entre variable environnementale
et donnees d'abondance d'espece?

as my question is not directly involved in the use of the software ADE-4, I
would be happy to know more about this ordination method called 'non metric
multidimensional scaling' (not found in ADE-4).
What is the main interest of this method comparatively to other classical
methods such as PCA, CA, and DCA? In which case of type of data should you
use this ordination technique? Is it correct that in order to use this
method -which is based on a rank transformation- one should observe at least
a monotonic relationship between species abundance data and environmental
variables?
